Special Olympics Sports
For its 36th edition, Défi sportif AlterGo is organising competitions in collaboration with Special Olympics Québec. The featured competitions are a model for the development of each discipline. It enables clubs from Quebec and Ontario to compete with each other and prepare for world competitions. Four Special Olympics sports are featured on Défi sportif 2019 program.
Boccia is a precision-dependent sport, similar to pétanque. Athletes develop interpersonal relationships, improve their physical condition and increase their self-esteem. The tournament is held at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard on May 4, 2019.
Rhythmic gymnastics combines elements of classical dance, gymnastics, dance and dexterity in the manipulation of apparatus. The SO rhythmic gymnastics competition will be held at Claude Robillard Sports Centre on May 4, 2019.
At the Défi sportif AlterGo, the Special Olympics swimming event, distances from 25 to 400 meters. Four styles prevail: freestyle, back stroke, the crawl and the butterfly. There are also relay races. Competitions will be held on May 4 and 5, 2019.
Soccer is a popular sport for all athletes, including those with functional limitations. During the 36th Défi sportif AlterGo, the SO soccer tournament will be held at Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard on May 4, 2019.
